2019 In Review

2019_review(1)

2020 is here so I thought I would take a look back at what has come about in 2019 for myself and family.  Keep in mind this will be rather long and full of pictures of makeup and clothes because I had quite a few posts I just didn’t get around to finishing last year,  so I threw them all together into one large year-end type post.

Starting off 2019

I started off 2019 in a good way but that quickly came to an end.  It was only a couple of weeks in and I ended up breaking my leg and pretty severely at that.  I required 4 days in the hospital,  4 months of healing and 2 surgeries to repair the break.  I now have some really wicked scars on my lower leg and knee area and a nice chunk of metal as well.  My awesome wife was so great during all of this because for the first week or two I barely moved from her recliner that she so graciously let me used while I recuperated.  I can guarantee this woman loves me after having to put up with my broken ass for 4 months straight.

I am pretty sure light colored pantyhose or tights are out now as I will need a way to cover up the scars,  I am sure my dreams of becoming a leg model are now out the window.

Made It Out

I was able to connect with another Crossdresser living in the same city as me and we were able to head out for coffee together.  It was nice being able to talk to someone face to face who has had some of the same experiences as me in life.  They are a lot farther into their dressing than I am seeing as they have been out before dressed and at this point, I have not gone past my back yard but it was awesome hearing some of their stories and learning more about them.  We will for sure heading out again to meet when all the holiday dust settles.  You can read about our first meet up here.

What I bought this year

I tend not to spend a lot of money on clothes just for the simple fact that I don’t get to wear them all that much,  so when I do buy something I either rely on 50% off sales or thrift store finds.  I really only picked up 2 new pieces of clothes in 2019,  which is fine because the wife is complaining about how much space Cynthia’s clothes are taking up in the closet.

Clothes

I kept it simple with a pair of nice used jeans from a thrift store that looks brand new,    And on a trip to Penningtons in the fall, the wife bought me a mesh blouse and I went back later on and bought a dress with some of my tip money.

The blouse is super versatile and can be dressed up or down but it’s mesh so it needs a tank top underneath it at least.  The dress feels like velvet and looks really good.  My only complaint is the low cut neckline,  I need to get something that comes up pretty high to be able to wear it properly as most of my bra’s show up underneath it.

This year I also started to buy a little bit more jewelry as well with some sets of clip-on earrings from the thrift store and some rings and bracelets from Penningtons.

The rings were in a set of five and I am sure they were size 11,  if I move up to the size 12 for the next set I think it will be better.  IMG_1000The bracelets were not such a great fit as I could not get them over my thumbs without dislocating them.  The bracelets also came in a set of 5 and luckily most were very thin so I was able to cut them and spread them apart to allow me to get them on,  the thicker bracelet was gifted to my wife.  I believe the ones I cut could get a dab of hot glue to make them a bit safer and stop them from snagging on my clothes.

Makeup

If this is your first time reading my blog,  Hi I am Cynthia and I love Lipstick.  So ya know I bought more this year but again it was always on sale and only when it was 5.99 or below.  Plus sometimes when getting it from Shoppers Drug Mart I get 100 PC Optimum points for every dollar spent on Revlon Lipstick,  it’s a win/win really.

I know I already did a post about this but I want to brag about my Xmas gift a bit more so here are some better pics of my M∙A∙C lipstick that my kid got me.

M∙A∙C Cremesheen Lipstick in Brave Red

Me wearing my new M∙A∙C Brave Red.

As you can see there is quite a few of the Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Is Everything shades,  turns out this line is being discontinued and a new line coming out so all the old stock at Shoppers Drug Mart is being cleared,  I only picked out some colors I would normally never try and will see how they look on me.  Worst case scenario if they look terrible I can give them to the kid and they can use them for cosplaying.

Skincare

When I shave my face I have to try and get really close and to be quite honest I have never really found a difference between expensive razors and the cheap ones.  To be able to get all the hairs I can I am constantly shaving in the same spot and it gets irritated which I can deal with but it’s the little ingrown hairs that really bother me.  Even though I always clean my face before shaving it’s still a problem.  IMG_1062I decided to try out a toner after shaving to see if that lessens the breakouts and so far it seems to have worked.  I picked up the Olay Cleanse Toner with Witch Hazel,  it has not stopped the breakouts totally but it was gone down considerably.

I was about halfway through my bottle of Olay Quench body lotion when I finally got around to shaving my legs again after everything had healed all up.  I only got 2 squirts out before the pump decided to die.  Figured I would just head out to the closest drug store and pick up a new one,  not so easy.  Turns out the only place in town that sells it is the large “W” store that is almost a 15 min drive from home.  When I finally did get the new one the bottle was almost twice the size and to be quite honest I don’t like the scent as much as I liked the last one although the formulation seems to work just a well.

Nails

I only picked up a few things in 2019 that are nail related as I have a fairly decent sized collection of polishes and nails still.  One disappointment was that I was not able to get the Nina Ultra Pro white base coat the last time I went looking for it at Sally Beauty and the next best one I could find by Finger Paints did not really meet my expectations.  I mean it worked okay but was not as a vibrant white as the other product I used previously which meant (At least on me) the colors I put on top seemed kinda muted.

From left to right are Nina Ultra Pro in Hot, Vixen and, Wet Glaze then Finger Paints in A Hue Too Many and Folk He-Art.  The shades in Finger Paints are great but the brush size is a little too small for my liking,  although it’s great for when I do my wife’s nails.

So that’s pretty much everything I did and or bought in 2019.  Here is hoping that all of my readers had a safe and happy holidays and that the New Year brings you health and happiness.

Thanks For Reading.

What’s in my Makeup Collection?

makeup_collection2

It’s no secret,  I love makeup.

I love trying new brands,  looks and styles.  I love being able to sit down at my makeup mirror and just practise putting it all on and seeing how much better I get each time.  The only thing I really need now is more time to use it all in.

So here for you to see is all the products I am using or testing out.

Tools

Just like everything else you need the right tools for the right job,  same goes for makeup.   I have invested in some decent, but not overly expensive brushes and sponges that seem to be working for me.

I have brushes from Still Cosmetics, E.L.F. and EcoTools.  I have also been using Joe Fresh foundation sponges along with a Quo Blending sponge.

Moisturiser

Moisturiser gets your skin ready for your makeup.  This is all I apply before as I don’t use primers or anything else.  Olay complete had lots of positive reviews and really works well in my opinion.  It does not leave your face feeling greasy and sets in really quick.

Foundation

Recently I finally found my perfect match with Maybelline Fit me Matte + Poreless IMG_20180909_115528foundation in Buff Beige (130).  I really like the finish and so far it looks good in pictures.  I had picked up a couple of different shades and I know I will have to get some more because right now I am still tanned from working outside all the time

Concealer

Currently using Maybelline, Covergirl and E.L.F.  The Covergirl and E.L.F. are both stick style and the Maybelline is a liquid type.IMG_20180909_115949

Powders

I have been using Covergirl CG Smoothers powder and just recently picked up some Maybelline Fit me loose finishing powder which I am really enjoying to use to set my foundation.

Blush and Highlighter

When it comes to blush or highlighter I am a total Noob.  IMG_20180909_120254To be honest I always forget that I even have a blush palette to use most of the time.  But if I do remember,  My E.L.F. Eyeshadow palette contains a entire blush collection plus I bought a E.L.F. Rose gold blush/highlighter combo.  I have tried the highlighter a couple of times now and really like the way it looks so I will be working more with it.

Eyeshadow

My second favourite makeup product and you can tell by the amount I have of it.  I love how I can mix colours to make  new types of looks.  Using E.L.F., Covergirl and Wet n Wild.

Mascara and Eyeliner

I’ve never really had luck with pencil style eyeliners,  but lord knows I tried.  I find they always jump causing a dotted line effect or maybe I’m not doing it right.IMG_20180909_120450  I have taken the plunge and started using liquid eyeliner and  I gotta say I really,  really like how they work.  It takes no pressure at all to leave a  nice dark line along the eyelid.  Does take some extra time to use and learn though.

I have liners by  Mary Kay, E.L.F. and Maybelline.

Lipstick

Hands down my favourite part of my makeup routine.  I started with very muted shades at first but have moved up to very vibrant reds and pinks.

IMG_20180909_120850

Been using Covergirl, Revlon, Maybelline, L’oreal, Mary Kay, Lancome and E.L.F.

Eye Makeup Remover

To take my eye makeup off I have been using the Mary Kay Eye Makeup Remover.  I have not tried many other methods,  but this seems to work really well.IMG_20180909_121136  Takes off all the shadows,  liner and mascara.  It does not take very much at all to completely remove everything.

Facial Wipes

I don’t have the package for these because they work so well for me the contents outlasted the box.  They are Olay Daily facials, and are great for removing all the rest of the makeup off your face.

They are dry and you just add some warm water and foam them up.  Plus if you want to get even more mileage out of them you could cut them in half.  I am not sure if this style is even made any more.

So there you have it,  everything that I usualy use in my makeup routine.
